APPROACH FOR PNEUMONIA DETECTION IN CHEST X-RAY USING CNN- A REVIEW

Abstract

Pneumonia is a deadly disease that inflames the air sac in human lungs caused by streptococcus pneumonia bacteria. This disease can easily infect people who have Asthma or diabetes. Pneumonia can be seen in people above 60 or around 60 years. The chest X-rays are used to diagnose pneumonia but need an expert pulmonologist for evaluation. Thus developing the automatic monitoring system in assessing pneumonia has gained more importance in treating or curing the disease at early stages. Deep learning algorithms like CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) gained much attention for disease classification. In our work, we mainly used the pre-trained CNN model for feature extraction followed by the multiple classifiers for classifying abnormal and normal chest X-Rays. We analytically determine the optimal CNN model by checking the performance of different feature extraction models and the classifiers.
