Iot Based Crop Monitoring System In Smart Agriculture









Abstract

The Agriculture is considered as the basis of human life as it is the main source of food grains and other raw materials. For several decades, farmers spend most of their time in the agriculture field for watering the crop, which is labour-intensive and time-consuming. In order to make the process ease and to help farmers save their time, a new idea has been introduced in this research study. The technology discussed in this study is that by sensing the soil moisture, the motor of the water pump can be turned ON automatically which supplies the water to the field. Also when the soil reaches enough moisture level, the motor of the pump will automatically be turned OFF, resulting in the need of no human intervention. Therefore, this concept will provide a long-term solution to the farmers for a maintenance-free agriculture that needs no human intervention and saves water by avoiding excessive supply of water to the field. Another important concept is preventing the crops from grazing animals in crop field, because grazing decreases the yield which will result in a great loss of money. Therefore, this study introduces “motion sensor” to monitor the movement of animals around the farm land by using passive infrared (PIR) sensor to monitor and to give signal around the land through a buzzer to drive back the animals. Here proposed a new method called Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring system in smart agriculture; In this method, a soil moisture sensor using IoT platform is connected to a switch in order to turn ON and OFF the pump, using which the farmer can monitor all the field parameters through Internet using their smart phone applications, and the NodeMCU Pinout is act as a bluetooth service.
