Building a safe electronic voting system that provides the fairness and privacy of present voting schemes while also providing the transparency and flexibility given by electronic systems has long been a difficulty. In this work-in-progress study, we examine a blockchain-as-a-service application for implementing distributed electronic voting systems. The study offers a unique blockchain-based electronic voting system that tackles some of the shortcomings of existing systems and examines some of the prominent blockchain frameworks for the aim of building a blockchain-based e-voting system. We assess the possibilities of distributed ledger technology in particular by describing a case study, namely the election process and the installation of a blockchain-based application that enhances security and lowers the cost of hosting a countrywide election.
